Loch Awe and Inverary

Head for Crianlarich, then beyond to Loch Awe. Kilchurn Castle, the Clan seat of the Campbell’s of Breadalbane, is now a very picturesque ruin. It is located on more-or-less an island on Loch Awe.

To get to Kilchurn Castle, park your car just off the main road at the end of the Loch (it is quite a concealed entrance to a parking entrance) and walk along what would have been the original causeway to the castle.

Inverary is one of Scotland’s beautiful historic towns, with lots to see and do. It has an award-winning Jail, now a fascinating museum, Inverary Castle, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and the Maritime Museum – and lots of tearooms and restaurants.

Drive back via the West Side of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs to get back to Crieff.
